Abstract

The household sector has a significant role in the economy. Household basically means a place to live or a building for human habitation. This study aims to: (1) Analyze the development of variables that affect household expenditure, (2) Describe household expenditure on food and non-food in Riau Province, (3) Analyze the factors that influence household expenditure in Riau Province, (4) Analyze response variables that affect household spending. The method used in this research is the library method. The data collection technique used in this research is the documentary method. Data analysis used in this study is quantitative data in time series data, namely data used from 2001 to 2022. The aspects studied are factors that influence household expenditure in Riau Province, namely income, population, length of education, inflation, and savings. The results of this study indicate that the development of income, population, length of education, inflation and savings has increased every year. However, inflation fluctuations tend to decrease, which means that household spending in Riau Province is still stable due to declining inflation. Household spending on food and non-food from 2001 to 2022 has increased every month and every year, but the biggest expenditure is on food spending per year with an average of Rp. 8.989.790. While the lowest expenditure is on non-food per year with an average of Rp. 8.641.541. Significant factors affecting household expenditure in Riau Province are income, population, length of education, inflation and savings. The variable responses that affect household expenditure in Riau Province are income, population, length of education, inflation and savings which greatly affect household expenditure in Riau Province.
