Abstract

Liberica coffee germination activities are often faced with dormation problems. Seed dormancy is a condition where seeds are healthy but fail to germinate under normal environmental conditions. So appropriate methods are needed to break seed dormancy, one of which is the sanding scarification method and cow urine concentration. The research aims to determine the effect of sanding scarification and cow urine on the germination of Liberica coffee seeds (Coffea liberica L.). This research used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is sanding consisting of 4 levels, namely without sanding, sanding the plumule area, sanding the radicle area and sanding the plumule and radicle areas and the second factor is cow urine consisting of 4 levels, namely 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%. The parameters observed were germination capacity, germination time, vigor index, number of leaves, seed height, root length, seed wet weight and seed dry weight. The observation data was analyzed statistically and continued with the Honestly Significant Difference (BNJ) test at the 5% level. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, the interaction effect of sanding scarification and cow urine has a significant effect on all observation parameters, where the best treatment is sanding in the radicle plumule area and cow urine is 75%. The main effect of sanding scarification has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is sanding the plumule and radicle areas. The main effect of cow urine has a significant effect on all parameters. The best treatment is 75% cow urine.
