Abstract
This research was motivated by the problem of low student motivation in the learning process at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Jadid, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, which was characterized by students paying less attention when teachers explained the material and often feeling bored during the learning process. To address this issue, ice breaking was implemented. The application of ice breaking helped teachers create an engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere. When students felt happy while learning, they were able to concentrate better, understand, and absorb the material more effectively. The research problem was formulated as follows: How does ice breaking influence students' learning motivation in Islamic Education at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Jadid, Tapung District, Kampar Regency? The aim of this study was to determine the effect of ice breaking on students' learning motivation in Islamic Education at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Jadid, Tapung District, Kampar Regency. This study used a quantitative experimental approach with a QuasiExperimental design. The population of this research consisted of all 236 students at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Jadid, while the sample included 50 students divided into two classes, IVA and IVB. Data collection techniques involved observation and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using statistical methods with the Independent Sample T-test formula, which yielded a sig. (2- tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that Ha was accepted. This means that there was a significant influence of ice breaking on students' learning motivation in Islamic Education at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Jadid, Tapung District, Kampar Regency. Additionally, the effect size test using Cohen’s formula resulted in a value of 2.32, which falls into the large category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of ice breaking had a significant and substantial effect on students' learning motivation at Islamic Elementary School Nurul Jadid, Tapung District, Kampar Regency.
