Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implementation of Islamic consumption behavior in using electronic wallets (e-wallets) in Pekanbaru City. The research employed a descriptive quantitative analysis, using both primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained directly from respondents through questionnaires, while secondary data were collected from books, journals, the internet, and other media sources. The descriptive statistical method was used to analyze the data, presenting it in tables, graphs, pie charts, and percentages, followed by descriptive explanations. The study involved a sample of 96 respondents. The results showed that the majority of people in Pekanbaru City had implemented Islamic consumption behavior in their use of e-wallets, aligning with the six dimensions of Islamic consumption behavior— tawhid, justice, free will, trustworthiness, halal, and simplicity—with 86.92% falling into the “strongly agree” category. The average responses for each dimension were: tawhid (0.84%), justice (0.83%), free will (0.91%), trustworthiness (0.85%), halal (0.90%), and simplicity (0.89%). Free will had the highest average, indicating that the community demonstrated awareness and responsibility in making consumption decisions using e-wallets in accordance with Islamic principles. Justice had the lowest average, highlighting ongoing challenges in ensuring equitable wealth distribution and avoiding monopolistic practices in e-wallet usage. Overall, the study showed that the majority of people in Pekanbaru City had applied Islamic consumption behavior in using electronic wallets, reflecting their awareness of sharia principles in financial technology transactions.
