Abstract
The role of agricultural extension workers is very important to help and guide Liberica coffee farmers optimally. This research aims to analyze: 1) Characteristics of farmers, agricultural instructors, farming profiles, institutional profiles of farmers and extension institutions 2) Level of farmer satisfaction with the performance of agricultural instructors 3) Strategies for improving the performance of agricultural instructors. This research method uses a survey method, the location was taken in Kedabu Rapat Village, Rangsang Pesisir District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted for 6 months starting from July 2023 to December 2023 which included activities for preparing proposals, data collection, data processing, thesis preparation, reproduction and preparation of final reports. The technique for collecting respondents used multistage sampling technique or gradual cluster sampling with took 50 respondents. The data analysis used is Descriptive Statistical Analysis, Qualitative Descriptive Analysis and Science and CSI Analysis. The results of the research show 1) The characteristics of Liberian coffee farmers are that they are of productive age, namely 51 years old, the farmer's farming experience is 26 years, the farmer's education is mostly 11 years equivalent to high school level, the number of dependents in the farmer's family is mostly 3 people. The agricultural instructor's age is 29 years, his latest education is Bachelor's Degree (16 years), his work experience is 3.5 years, he has 1 person in his family. The land area of most Liberian coffee farmers is 1.7 Ha, the average source of capital is from the farmers themselves, the amount of capital is mostly Rp. 7,160,000. The extension institution in the Meranti Islands was founded in 2011, the vision is "Creating Community Economic Productivity and Creating Good, Clean and Responsible Government Governance and Providing Excellent Services" with 2 missions, the organizational structure of this service consists of a chairman, secretariat, security and food sector, in the fields of food crops and horticulture, in the fields of plantations and in the fields of animal husbandry, the number of instructors is 55 people. 2) The level of satisfaction based on the IPA results has 9 attributes in the Satisfied category and 10 attributes in the Dissatisfied category and based on CSI it is 71.53%, this shows that farmers are less satisfied with the role of agricultural instructors. 3) Strategies to improve the performance of agricultural instructors include; Agricultural instructors must have a full sense of responsibility for their role and duties as a guide for farmers, and must be reliable in helping to develop extension programs for farmers. Providing the latest information and new technology via social media, agricultural instructors must carry out consistent training and counseling so that the innovation adoption process runs well.
