Abstract
Technological advancements brought convenience, including in the field of commerce, where buying and selling activities, traditionally conducted face-toface, had shifted to online transactions. This online buying and selling is commonly referred to as e-commerce. E-commerce activities align with the principles of Fiqh Muamalah, specifically the As-Salam contract, where goods are ordered in advance and delivered within a few days, but payment must be made immediately. The purpose of this study was to determine students' understanding of online buying and selling (e-commerce). This research was quantitative in nature and utilized a survey method. The subjects of this study were students from Sharia Economics Program and Sharia Banking Program at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Islamic University of Riau. The object of the study was students' understanding of Fiqh Muamalah regarding e-commerce. The population consisted of 372 students, and a sample of 79 students was determined using the Slovin formula. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires. Descriptive analysis was employed, with results presented in tables and diagrams. The findings of this study indicated that students generally understood Fiqh Muamalah regarding e-commerce, with an average response rate of 3.89%. However, some students still lacked understanding or were categorized as not understanding, particularly regarding issues of fraud in offer (ijab) and acceptance (qabul) in e-commerce transactions.
