Abstract

Riau is a province that has fluctuating economic growth that tends to be positive. However, in 2020 the economic growth of Riau Province experienced a decline, causing an increase in poverty rates, a decrease in labor absorption and causing a shift in the economic sector in Riau Province. This research aims to analyze: 1. Economic growth of Riau Province; 2. Economic growth and competitiveness of each district/city in Riau Province; 3. Changes and shifts in the economic sector of Riau Province. This research uses library methods, taking place in Riau Province. The research period was 6 months from august-january. The location of this research was determined purposively with the consideration that Riau Province has a good economic sector and has data that supports the research. The type of data used in this research is secondary data, namely time series data for Gross Regional Domestic Product in Riau Province for the period 2012-2021. The analysis used in the research is Descriptive Statistical Analysis and Shift Share Analysis. The results of the research show that: 1. Economic growth rate of Riau Province. Based on the growth rate analysis, it is concluded that the economic sector of Riau Province has a positive average of 2.14%. 2. Economic growth and competitiveness based on regencies/cities in Riau Province are, the regencies/cities experiencing positive growth are Kuantan Singingi, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, Pelalawan, Rokan Hulu, Meranti Islands, Pekanbaru, and Dumai. Meanwhile, the districts/cities that experienced negative growth were Siak, Kampar, Bengkalis and Rokan Hilir. Districts/cities with positive competitiveness are Kuantan Singingi, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, Kampar, Rokan Hulu, Bengkalis, Meranti Islands, Pekanbaru. Meanwhile, the districts/cities with negative competitiveness are Pelalawan, Siak, Rokan Hilir and Dumai. 3. Changes and shifts in the economic sector in the Riau Province region show that the districts/cities are in Quadrant I, Rokan Hulu, Meranti Islands, Pekanbaru, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, Kuantan Singingi. The districts/cities in Quadrant II, Pelalawan and Dumai. Districts/cities in Quadrant III, Siak and Rokan Hilir. Meanwhile, the districts/cities in Quadrant IV are Kampar and Bengkalis.
