Abstract

Tempeh chips agro-industry is the processing of soybean raw materials into tempeh chips. The tempeh chips agro-industry business is one of the micro-scale businesses that produce tempeh chips. Tempeh chips also have high nutrition, especially protein and minerals. Tempeh chips are one of the preparations that are in great demand in Indonesia because of their affordable price. The agro-industry strategy of the tempeh chips business has the following objectives: 1) Characteristics of business actors and business profiles of the tempeh chip agroindustry in Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. 2) The use of raw materials, support, production technology, production factors, costs, production, prices, income, efficiency, and added value of the tempeh chips agroindustry in Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. 3) Business development strategy of the tempeh chip agro-industry in Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. The method used in this research is a case study on the tempeh chip agro-industry business in Harapan Jaya Village, Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. The research was conducted for six months, from June to November 2022. The determination of respondents consists of a business owner and six workers. The type of data used consists of qualitative and quantitative data. The results showed that: 1) entrepreneurs and workers are still of productive age, with an average education level of not graduating from high school, an average family dependency of 2 people, an average business experience of 5.5 years, and a microbusiness that has 6 workers. 2) the use of soybean raw materials, the use of supporting materials, production technology that is still simple with 3 soybean crushing machines, tempeh cutting machines, and tempeh chip wrapping press machines, the size of the business premises with a size of 7x12 m2, the use of 6 workers and 1 owner, and production costs worth Rp. 4,791,730.15 per production process. Production of 120kg per production process, price Rp. 70,000/kg, gross income worth 8,400,000/production, and net income worth Rp. 3,608,269.85/production Business efficiency is 1.63, or efficient because it is greater than 1. The strategy applied is S-T (strength and threats). The S-T strategy is a strategy that uses the strengths of its business to avoid existing threats.
