Abstract
Restorative Justice is the resolution of criminal cases involving the perpetrator, victim, family of the perpetrator/victim and other related parties to jointly seek a fair solution by emphasizing restoration to the original condition, and not retaliation. The main problem of this research is how effective the application of Restorative Justice is in handling criminal acts of abuse in the jurisdiction of the Siak Hulu Police and what obstacles are faced in implementing the Restorative Justice approach in resolving criminal acts of abuse in the jurisdiction of the Siak Hulu Police. The research method used in this research is observational research by conducting direct surveys in the field. This type of research is empirical legal research with the nature of analytical descriptive research, which means the author uses data or samples that have been collected to describe or provide a systematic picture of the object under study. The results obtained from this study are that the implementation of Restorative Justice in the Siak Hulu Police has been implemented quite well, but has not been effective. The obstacles in the implementation of Restorative Justice in criminal acts of abuse in the Siak Hulu Police are that law enforcers have not had special training in implementing Restorative Justice, Restorative Justice can only be applied/implemented to perpetrators who admit their actions, victims ask for a high amount of compensation and cannot be met by the perpetrators, perpetrators and victims are less cooperative. In conclusion, to optimize the implementation of Restorative Justice, special training is needed for law enforcement officers, so that the implementation of Restorative Justice can be implemented more effectively, it requires strengthening regulations, socialization to the community and can provide input to victims in this problem, victims who ask for high amounts of compensation can be resolved through a more effective negotiation process.
