Abstract

Porang plant farming has several potentials, including high selling prices and the small number of farmers who cultivate the porang plant. This study aims to analyze: 1) Characteristics of farmers and labor as well as the profile of porang farming in Rumbai Timur Subdistrict, Pekanbaru City. 2) Porang cultivation technology and the use of porang production factors in East Rumbai Sub-district of Pekanbaru City. 3) Production cost, income, profit and efficiency of porang farming in East Rumbai Sub-district of Pekanbaru City. The method used in this research is a case study in Okura Village, East Rumbai Subdistrict, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. Data analysis in this research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. This research will be carried out for 6 months starting from May to October 2022. Respondents totaled 1 entrepreneur, 5 workers at Mitra Porang Nusantata. The data collected are sourced from primary data and secondary data. Data analysis is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that: 1) The characteristics of farmers have an average age of 36.40 years (productive), 7.12 years of education (equivalent to high school), 12 years of farming experience and the number of family dependents 2 people. Land area owned by farmers is 10 hectares with land ownership status is owned and the source of capital comes from personal capital. Production costs of porang farming in this study amounted to Rp 192,327,266.67 ha/MT, this cost consists of variable costs of Rp 191,933,400 ha/MT and fixed costs of Rp 393,866.67 ha/MT. The largest use of costs in non-family labor costs of 55.37% or 1,065 HOK / MT and the lowest cost allocation on equipment depreciation of 0.20% or Rp 393,866.67. The production of porang farming was 3,500 kg/harvest/MT, the gross income of porang farming was Rp 350,000,000.00 harvest/MT and the net income was Rp 157,672,733.33 harvest/MT. The RCR value of 1.84 indicates that porang farming is efficient and feasible.
