Abstract

Multicultural education is an education that must be prioritized; it is related to the diversity that is the content of multicultural education in the form of differences in character, perspective, culture, and tolerance. The pedagogical values of multiculturalism can be the sol ution to overcoming various problems in Indonesia because the culture there is very diverse. Indonesian people must learn the values of multicultural education from children because childhood is a period of character building. The Upin and Ipin animated mo vie is one of the movies that has multicultural education values because it contains various cultures. The purpose of this research is to describe the multicultural values and meanings contained in the Upin and Ipin animated film. The research method used is descriptive - qualitative because this research focuses on presenting reports from narrative excerpts contained in the Upin and Ipin films. The data used is snippets of speech in the Upin and Ipin movie. The data collection technique is done by watching o r observing, documenting, then using the code technique (marking the part to be analyzed), and finally analyzing the data according to the value of multicultural education. According to the results obtained in the Upin Ipin animated film episodes Ragam Ram adhan, Raya Norma Baharu, and Raya Full of Meaning, there are values of multicultural education, namely pluralism, justice, equality, humanism, tolerance, democracy, helping, and prioritizing dialog. The benefits of this research are expected to provide in sight to readers about the importance of multicultural education values in building tolerance in social life.
