Abstract
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of several trap compositions on catches of horn beetles (Oryctes rhinoceros). This research was carried out at the Air of Life Cooperative (KAK) Oil Palm Plantation, Sam Sam Village, Kandis District, Siak Regency, Riau, from June to July 2023. The research used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 types of trap compositions against beetle pests Horns are traps with light, traps with pineapples, traps with pheromones, traps with light and pineapple and traps with light and pheromones. The parameters observed were the number of beetles caught in traps, the ratio of male and female horn beetles caught in traps, the number of beetles caught in nesting traps. Data was analyzed statistically. The results of the research showed that the traps with the highest catches were light and pheromone traps with an average catch of 20.4 fish and the trap with the fewest catches was the light trap with an average catch of 2.4 fish. The ratio of males to females caught in the trap composition is 9 : 3 (Light), 42 : 7 (Pineapple), 2 : 81 (Pheromone), 44 : 8 (Pineapple Light), 12 : 90 (Pheromone Light). It can be concluded that pheromone traps catch more female beetles and pineapple traps are better at catching male beetles.
