Abstract

Research on the application test of POC coconut water waste and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) seedlings has been carried out in Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru, for 4 months starting from May to August 2023. Research objectives for determine the effect of the interaction of coconut water waste POC and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth of areca nut seedlings. This research uses Completely randomized factorial design consisting of 2 factors. Factor The first is the POC of coconut water waste which consists of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0, 225, 450 and 675 ml per liter of water. The second factor is the NPK 16:16:16 dose consists of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0, 9, 18 and 27 g per polybag. Parameters that Observed were plant height, number of leaf midribs, length of leaf midrib, twist stem, longest root length and root volume. Data was analyzed statistically and continued with a further Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) test at the 5% level. Results Research shows that the interaction effect of POC and coconut water waste NPK 16:16:16 is significant for the parameters of plant height, number of leaf sheaths, leaf midrib length, stem girth, longest root length and root volume. The main effect of coconut water waste POC is significant on all parameters observations with the best treatment were at a concentration of 675 ml/l water. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 is significant on all observation parameters with the best treatment being a dose of 27 g/polybag.
