Abstract

Research on testing the application of matoa leaf compost and NPK Phonska on the growth of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) seedlings in pre-nursery. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru from March to June 2023. This research aims to test the interaction effect and the main effect of matoa leaf compost and Phonska NPK. This research used a factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is matoa leaf compost which consists of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0, 75, 150, and 225 g per polybag. The second factor is the Phonska NPK dosage which consists of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0: 1.12: 2.24 and 3.36 g per polybag. Each combination consists of 3 repetitions so there are 48 experimental units. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaf midribs, longest leaf midrib length, stem diameter, longest root length and root volume. The data was analyzed statistically and continued with the honest real difference test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of the application of matoa leaf compost and Phonska NPK was significantly different on the parameters of plant height, longest leaf midrib length, longest root length and root volume. The main effect of matoa leaf compost was significantly different on all observation parameters with the best treatment being at a dose of 225 g/polybag. The main effect of Phonska NPK was significantly different on all observation parameters with the best treatment being at a dose of 3.36 g/polybag.
