Abstract

The problem of unemployment is one of the obstacles in achieving a country's macroeconomic goals. Unemployment can hinder regional development and give rise to various social problems. The aim of this research is to assess the impact of economic growth and population growth on the unemployment rate in Riau Province. This research uses quantitative methods with secondary data, and multiple regression analysis is used to evaluate the effect of changes in one variable on other variables. Panel data from the Riau Province Central Statistics Agency for 2011-2022 is the basis for this research. The results of the analysis show that economic growth has an insignificant negative effect on the unemployment rate in Riau Province. Population growth has a significant positive influence on the unemployment rate in Riau Province. Overall, economic growth and population growth together have a significant influence on the unemployment rate in Riau Province.
