The rate of oil production in every oil field with the passage of time production will decline. This is due to the decrease in reservoir pressure and some wells have high water cut. Field Y is a field that has old wells so that it has multiphase fluids (oil, water and gas) with a high water cut reaching 75%, it is necessary to evaluate the potential of wells. Couto’s method is used for evaluating the well's potential. Couto’s method is an IPR curve forecasting that calculates oil flow rate. This method manipulates the Standing equation by assuming skin ≠ 0 and FE ≠ 1. IPR curve forecasting is very important to determine the rate of production in the future, in wells with natural lift (natural flow) or by using an artificial lift system (artificial lift). This IPR curve also represents the definition of determining the performance of a well when the well is placed on an artificial lift. The IPR curve is also important to see and compare the production rate with the artificial lift method. The calculation result of Couto’s method for the present time is obtained for = 30.11 BOPD, while the future is obtained for = 17.24 BOPD. The Couto’s method’s IPR chart is almost linear, this is because the well X has a high water cut and the oil flow rate is low.
