Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of interactions and main treatments of AB Mix nutrient concentration and growing media on the growth and yield of Japanese cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) using NFT hydroponics. This research was carried out at the Autoagronom Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Jalan Kharuddin Nasution, No. 133 Cold Water Village. This research used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design consisting of 2 factors, namely the concentration of the AB Mix fertilizer mixture (N) and the growing medium (M). The AB Mix nutrient concentration consisted of 4 levels, namely 0 ml/L, 2 ml/L, 4 ml/L, 6 ml/L and the planting media treatment consisted of 4 levels, namely rockwool, cocopeat, rice husk charcoal, chopped fern stems. The parameters observed were as follows: plant height, flowering age, percentage of flowers becoming fruit, harvest age, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per fruit and root volume. The data was analyzed statistically and continued with the Honestly Significant Difference Test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The research results showed that the interaction of AB Mix nutrient concentration and planting media had a significant effect on flowering age, percentage of flowers becoming fruit, harvest age, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per fruit and root volume. The best treatment is AB Mix nutrient concentration of 6 ml/L and chopped fern stem growing medium (N3M4). The effect of the AB Mix nutrient concentration was significant on all observation parameters, with the best treatment being an AB Mix concentration of 6 ml/L (N3). The effect of growing media was significant on all observation parameters, with the best treatment being chopped fern stem growing media (M4).
