Abstract

This study aims to obtain the effect of coconut water concentration and soaking time on the germination and growth of liberica coffee beans (Coffea liberica L.). This study was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. Starting from December 2023 to March 2024. The design used was a completely randomized design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the soaking time consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely: 6 hours 12 hours 18 hours 24 hours. The second factor is the concentration of coconut water consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0%, 25% 50% 75%. The parameters observed were plant height, germination power, number of leaves, stem diameter, wet weight, root volume, root length, dry weight. The last observation data was analyzed statistically and continued with a further BNJ test at a level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction of coconut water concentration and soaking time had a significant effect on plant height, germination power, number of leaves, stem diameter, wet weight, root length, dry weight. giving coconut water concentration and soaking time individually had a significant effect on all observation parameters, except for root volume with the best treatment, namely 75% coconut water concentration and 24-hour soaking time.
