Abstract

Mandau is one of the sub-districts located in the city of Duri, Riau Province. In this area there were several tofu factories that produce liquid waste. Tofu industry liquid waste had the characteristic of containing high organic matter, COD, and Ntotal. The purpose of this study were to determine the distribution and direction of groundwater surface flow, the feasibility of groundwater quality physically and chemically, and determine the level of groundwater pollution in the research area. The methods used in this study were field sampling and laboratory analysis. The parameters tested are color, taste, odor, dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (DHL), pH, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and total nitrogen (Ntotal). The highest MAT values were at stations 1, 5, 14, 18, and 19 where the flow direction spread and flowed towards the central part of the study area, namely station 11. The results of analysis of physical and chemical parameters of groundwater at 20 stations in the study were showed that all stations (100%) had clear groundwater color; all stations (100%) had tasteless groundwater; 19 stations (95%) had odorless groundwater and 1 station (5%) had odorous groundwater; all stations (100%) had TDS values < 500 mg/l; DHL values ranged from 31 – 280 ?S/cm; pH values ranged from 7.69 – 7.83; 19 stations (95%) had COD values groundwater < 10 mg/l and 1 station (5%) has a groundwater COD value of > 10 mg/l; and Ntotal values ranging from 0.6-3 mg / l. Based on drinking water quality standards, all stations had groundwater that does not meet the eligibility requirements as drinking water. Based on COD values, 19 stations (95%) were classified as light pollution and 1 station (5%) was classified as moderate pollution. As for the Ntotal value, all stations (100%) were classified as polluted.
