Abstract
Air quality in urban areas is a vital aspect that significantly impacts the well-being of the community and environmental sustainability. In densely populated areas with high economic activities, air pollution often becomes a major challenge. The elevated concentration of motor vehicles, industrial operations, and other urban activities can lead to increased emissions of hazardous gases and particulate matter into the air, posing potential risks to human health. Therefore, monitoring air quality in urban areas is crucial for detecting and identifying pollution sources and assessing their impact on both the environment and the community.Efforts to improve air quality include the implementation of advanced technologies, stringent emission regulations, promotion of sustainable transportation, and raising awareness among the urban population about the positive effects of maintaining clean air. The objective of this research is to design an air quality and smoke level monitoring device using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system can detect the presence of harmful gases or polluted air using an MQ-135 sensor for air quality and an MQ-2 sensor for smoke emissions. Additionally, the device is equipped with a DHT22 sensor to monitor temperature and humidity. The collected data is transmitted to a server, in this case, Blynk, configured to provide informative results accessible to users or the urban community through the Blynk User Interface. When any of these sensors detect hazardous gases or smoke, LEDs will change color according to the detected air quality and smoke emission levels. If the air quality or smoke emission is deemed hazardous, the BUZZER module will emit a warning sound. This integrated system aims to provide real-time information on air quality in urban areas and contribute to creating a healthier and safer environment for the urban population.
