Abstract
Broiler farms face various challenges in maintaining optimal environmental conditions, especially in controlling temperature, humidity, ammonia gas levels and light intensity. Unstable environmental conditions can cause stress in chickens, reduce feed conversion efficiency, and increase mortality rates. Therefore, this research aims to develop and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system that allows real-time monitoring of cage conditions. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with DHT22 sensors for temperature and humidity, MQ-135 sensors for ammonia gas levels, and LDR sensors for light intensity. The data obtained is displayed through a website monitoring platform and Telegram notifications, allowing farmers to remotely monitor the condition of the cages and take corrective actions quickly and efficiently. The research method includes hardware and software design, sensor integration, and black-box testing to evaluate system performance. The test results show that the system can detect changes in environmental conditions with high accuracy and automatically activate the fan when the temperature exceeds 29.1°C to maintain the stability of the cage environment. The monitoring website presents data in graphical and tabular form, while Telegram notifications provide real-time alerts to farmers. The system is proven to improve the efficiency of broiler cage management and help reduce the risk of reduced productivity due to uncontrolled environmental conditions. This research shows that the application of IoT technology in broiler cage monitoring can provide innovative solutions for modern farm management. Further developments could include developing mobile applications to increase monitoring flexibility, testing on a larger farm scale, as well as improving hardware durability for long-term use in extreme cage environments.
