Abstract

The problems underlying the research is the number of students who don't know what the best career that would be suffered in the future. The cause was labelled an ignorance of it is going to interest and talent, the job market opportunities do not support and the lack of sources of support especially from parents so that students tend to mature in the selection of career. The availability of parental social support becomes positive attribution confirms every decision taken student related careers. Thus the purpose of this research was to prove the existence of parental social support correlations with maturity of career choices in Riau Islamic University students. This research was conducted with the quantitative approach, in which the measuring instrument data collection research is the scale likert scale – type. The scale used is the parent social support scale and the scale of the ripeness of career choices. The sample in this study are students of Riau Islamic University as many as 100 people are determined by purposive random sampling techniques. Based on the results of the analysis of the data by using the technique of correlation coefficients and moment found product correlation (r) of 0.510 with significance (p) in the amount of 0.000 (p < 0.01). Thus the hypothesis in this study was accepted as the conclusion of the study, meaning that there is a significant correlations between social support parents with maturity of career choices in Riau Islamic University students.
