Abstract
The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method and path analysis techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires from all students of SMAN 2 Sei Lala totaling 174 students as the population which were then tested using the G*Power application which obtained 82 students as samples. The variables studied included parents' socioeconomic status as an independent variable, motivation to continue their education to college as a dependent variable, and learning achievement as a mediating variable. The results showed that parents' socioeconomic status had a significant influence on the motivation to continue their education to college (p < 0.05) with a path coefficient of 0,995. However, learning achievement partially mediated the relationship between parents' socioeconomic status and motivation to continue their education to college (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that learning achievement does not have a significant influence in encouraging students' motivation to continue their education. In other words, regardless of the level of academic achievement, as long as the parents' economic conditions are sufficient, a person tends to remain motivated to continue their education to college.
