Abstract
This study aims to explore and understand how consumption patterns and altruistic values are perceived and interpreted by students of the Accounting Education Program at the Islamic University of Riau. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of students’ experiences and perspectives regarding consumption and altruistic actions. The findings indicate that students’ consumption patterns do not directly shape their altruistic behavior. Although financial limitations often pose challenges, the decision to share and help others is more strongly influenced by personal awareness, empathy, and internal motivation. These insights suggest that altruism among students is not merely a reflection of material conditions, but rather an embodiment of deeply rooted human values shaped by their life experiences.
