Abstract

PT. Dakota Kargo is a technology-based shipping company that provides goods and document delivery services to all areas within the reach of PT. Dakota Cargo. As for PT. Dakota Kargo has quite a number of branches in Indonesia, one of which is in Pekanbaru City. Service users only need to pay a certain amount of money to PT. Dakota Kargo as a fee for sending goods to a predetermined address. But behind the convenience provided by the expedition service provider, it cannot be denied that there are constraints experienced during the shipping process which can cause losses for consumers. One of the adverse events that often occurs is that the item arrives at the destination in a damaged condition or is received in an incomplete condition according to when the item was sent. Based on the background above, the problem that will be answered in this thesis research is about how Legal Protection for Consumers for the Right to Convenience and Safety in Using Goods Forwarding Services at PT. Dacota Cargo ? and how is Compensation Settlement for Consumers in Using Expedition Services at PT. Dacota Cargo. This type of research is sociological legal research which is carried out by means of a survey, namely research directly to the research location using data collection tools in the form of interviews and questionnaires. Meanwhile, if seen from its nature, this writing is descriptive analytical, which means that the research is intended to provide a detailed, clear and systematic description. Legal Protection for Consumers for the Right to Convenience and Safety in Using Freight Forwarding Services at PT. Dacota Kargo that PT. Dacota Kargo is not fully responsible for loss and damage to consumer goods, but PT. Dakota Kargo only provides compensation of 10 x the cost of shipping, which is a form of legal protection for consumers for their right to comfort and safety in using freight forwarding services at PT. Dacota Cargo while Settlement of Compensation for Consumers in Using Expedition Services at PT. Dacota Kargo that PT. Dacota Kargo only compensates for losses suffered by consumers on damaged or lost goods amounting to 10 x the shipping costs, because according to PT. Dacota Kargo as the business actor said that the incident was not purely the fault of PT. Dakota Kargo only, but from the consumers themselves, as well as the airlines in distributing the goods sent to the baggage of the plane.
