Abstract

The Information System is an organized way of collecting, entering, processing, and storing data, as well as storing, managing, controlling, and reporting information in such a way that an organization can achieve its goals. In this constantly evolving era, the development of Information Systems has many different approaches. The support of several developers in providing an Application Development Framework greatly helps in the process of developing Information Systems. Some of the advantages provided by the Framework include more structured programming code, simplifying the development process, and providing ease of application maintenance. In recent years, web development has undergone significant changes in every layer of web development. These layers can be generally categorized as front-end and back-end. The emergence of ECMAScript2015 and the rapid development of NoSQL databases have created a new paradigm of "Javascript everywhere", which has caused the use of javascript to increase and spread quickly, especially among web developers. MERN is an acronym for the MongoDB, Express JS, React JS, and Node JS technologies, which is one of the web development methods that use javascript as the programming language for every layer or part of web development, both on the front-end and back-end. The main function of these four technologies is that MongoDB serves as the database used to store data, Express JS is used to develop backend APIs so that data can be accessed from the frontend, React JS serves as a library for developing SPA-based user interfaces, and Node JS serves as a development environment in order to facilitate developers in installing supporting libraries, debugging, and so on. Based on the availability of this Framework, this research is made to combine several important aspects of the Framework to develop the Arrester Cooperative Information System. Using the MERN Framework, the results of the study show that the use of the Framework proves to provide ease and accelerate the process of developing the Information System as well as ease of maintenance in the process.
