Abstract

Fraud is a crime that can be subject to criminal sanctions. With the development of the times, there are various types of fraud methods, one of which is using the online social gathering mode. Fraud using the online social gathering mode has different criminal rules from fraud in general in the Criminal Code,but uses criminal rules in the ITE Law. Fraud using the online social gathering mode has occurred several times in the Pekanbaru City area. The purpose of this study is to find out how the law is enforced against online-based arisan fraud in the Riau High Prosecutor's Office and what are the obstacles in enforcing the law against online-based arisan fraud in the Riau High Prosecutor's Office. This study was conducted using the Sociological Law research method or survey, meaning social research whose object is society. This study aims to increase knowledge, answer questions, identify relationships between variables, or solve certain problems. Online arisan is a criminal act of fraud under the guise of arisan, where criminal liability for perpetrators of online arisan fraud refers to the Criminal Code and also Law Number 11 of 2008 which has been amended to Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning the ITE Law.
