Abstract

The coast provides greater accessibility for transportation and port activities, as well as relatively easy and inexpensive space for industrial warehousing activities, and is the place where the most dense population concentration, around 75% of the world's total population live in coastal areas. One of the coastal areas in the Bengkalis District, is experiencing a dynamic change that is quite fast. Bengkalis District as an urban center that supports socio-economic activities and as a center for economic development. This study examines the evaluation of land suitability for coastal settlements in Bengkalis District based on physical aspects, accessibility and disaster. The data analysis technique used in this study is scoring and overlay. From the results of the analysis it can be seen that the suitability of residential land in the Pesisir area of Bengkalis District with a very suitable classification level (S1) with an area of 278 Ha, suitable (S2) with an area of 3 Ha, and Less Suitable (S3) with an area 0 Ha and Incompatible (S4) with an area of 28 Ha. Land suitability with appropriate categories where this land is suitable for development as a residential area that has a high score on the aspects of slope, soil type, coastal border, river border and accessibility. Most of the land in the unsuitable category is in the form of coastal borders, river banks and areas prone to coastal abrasion.Evaluation, land, settlement, coast
