Abstract

this type of research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were 38 students of class VIII.5. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling so that the number of samples in this study was only 17 male students. The test instrument used was the basic volleyball technique ability test, namely underhand service, underhand passing and smash. The results of the field tests were 1 person with a percentage of 5.88% included in the very good category, 4 people with a percentage of 23.53% included in the good category, 6 people with a percentage of 35.29% included in the moderate category, 5 people with a percentage of 29.42% included in the less category, 1 person with a percentage of 5.88% included in the very less category so that it can be concluded that the basic volleyball technique ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu is in the moderate category.
