Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as a company's efforts to consider social, economic and environmental aspects in all its actions. CSR is a program that is seen as Corporate Social Responsibility towards stakeholders and the environment directly and indirectly in various ways, including improving the quality of life and welfare of the community as mandated in article 74 of law number 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies. Apart from increasing profits for stakeholders, companies must also pay attention to and be involved in fulfilling community welfare, and actively contribute to preserving the environment so as to create sustainable development. The main problem in this research is how to implement the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program within PT. PLN (Persero) Main Unit for the Riau and Riau Islands Region according to Law No. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies in the Payung Sekaki Pekanbaru sub-district and what are the obstacles for PT. PLN (Persero) Main Unit for the Riau and Riau Islands Regions in the Payung Sekaki sub-district in implementing the corporate social responsibility program. This research is classified as a type of research using empirical legal research, namely research using data in the field such as the results of interviews and observations. On the other hand, the nature of this research is descriptive and analytical, namely providing an overview of the data obtained in the field. The conclusion of this research is that the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) of PT PLN (Persero) Main Unit for the Riau and Riau Islands Region in the Payung Sekaki sub-district, Pekanbaru, has not run optimally. This is due to the lack of understanding of the community around the company regarding the proposed programs provided by the company. The community admits that the company does not interact enough with the surrounding community and does not provide education/socialization of corporate social responsibility programs and activities to the communities around which the company operates.
