Abstract

The coal mining industry is a vital sector in the global economy. The process of coal mining involves a complex set of activities, including exploration, mining, transport, and processing. Students majoring in Geological Engineering at Universitas Islam Riau have the responsibility to understand in depth the technical and environmental aspects related to the coal mining process. A good understanding of the coal mining process requires innovative and effective learning methods, given the dynamic and rapidly developing nature of this industry, the author conducted a study with the title "Coal Mining Learning Media Using Augmented Reality". The purpose of this research is to utilize Augmented Reality technology as a means of education in coal mining and create applications that can explain and display each stage of coal mining with Augmented Reality. By using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method with stages starting from Concept, Design, Material Collecting, Assembly, Testing, and Distribution. Software used on this experiment for creating 3D objects and animation is Blender 3D. The results of this study are in the form of a mobile application that acts as a learning aid for Geological Engineering students, this application can run quite well, with a feasibility rate of 87.5% through testing with Likert method calculations, making this application capable as learning media for Geological Engineering student.
