Abstract

With the large number of crimes occurring in the Internet world today, network security must be monitored and detected so that crimes can be quickly anticipated. The aim of this research is to provide an analysis of network attack detection on the Simfokom Bureau Server at Riau Islamic University. Therefore, we need a detection tool such as the Snort application which can detect network attacks. This research uses penetration testing techniques which aim to directly test the security of a system or network at the Institute of Computer Science and Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. In this research, the use of Snort worked well because it could detect and send warnings to administrators via the Telegram social media application and could detect all network attacks that occurred on the server. All of this is in accordance with applicable and established regulations.
