Abstract
In the oil and gas industry, permeability calculations are essential for determining reservoir quality and the ability of rocks to produce oil and gas. Permeability is a petrophysical parameter used to indicate how well reservoir rocks can transmit the fluids contained within them. The determination of permeability values must be conducted based on the classification of rock types. One method that can classify permeability values based on the rock types present in the reservoir is the rock typing method. This study was conducted on five wells, namely wells AG_301, AG_302, AG_303, AG_304, and AG_305, using geological software with two algorithms: MRGC (Multi-Resolution Graph Clustering) and SOM (SelfOrganizing Maps). The study identified six rock types based on the HFU (Hydraulic Flow Unit) method, with varying R² values (coefficient of determination) for each HFU based on FZI (Flow Zone Indicator) values. RT 2 had the highest R² value of 0.8418, while RT 6 had the lowest R² value of 0.2555. The study results also showed that MRGC outperformed SOM in terms of correlation coefficient, with MRGC achieving a coefficient of 0.713378 compared to SOM's 0.712211. Therefore, the researchers preferred the MRGC method, as it also offers advantages over SOM, particularly when data is limited. Additionally, MRGC modeling is more varied, making it more efficient in terms of time and handling larger datasets
