Abstract
To support the casing and other surface equipment and withstand formation pressure, the free water, compressive strength and shear bond strength values of the cement produced in the cementing process must comply with API standards. Free water is the amount of free water separated from the cement suspension. Silica oxide can accelerate the thickening time value, can reduce loss circulation, can reduce porosity and permeability in cement, and can increase the compressive strength value of drilling cement. This study only conducted density and free water tests, this test did not involve other drilling cement rheology tests. Based on the background that has been presented, this study will examine several variables, namely the free water value, thickening time and compressive strength of drilling cement. This study aims to analyze the effect of silica oxide additive performance on drilling cement suspension with concentrations of 5 gr, 10 gr, and 15 gr on physical properties and free water testing at a temperature of 600C. Where the results obtained from each test are in accordance with API (American Petroleum Institute) standards. It can be said that the higher the concentration of silica oxide, the better the rheology and free water values of the drilling cement obtained. The ideal result is at a concentration of 15 grams of silica oxide. The density value obtained is 14.4 ppg, the thickening time value is 108 min, the compressive strength value is 1113 psi.
