Abstract

Some of the factors that cause a decrease in production rate include a decrease in reservoir pressure, back pressure and pressure drop in the flowline from the well to the Gathering station. Field X is an oil and gas field consisting of 11 production wells that have been operating since 1990. In 2023, there is a problem of back pressure in the flowline network due to the narrowing of the diameter at a distance of 0-1 km using a 6 inch flowline size and 2-3 km using an 8 inch flowline size from the upstream field to the downstream Gathering station. Pipesim software is used in this study to analyze the back pressure that occurs in the flowline from the wellhead 11 wells to the Gathering station by looking at the pressure gradient. the more positive the pressure gradient value, the more indicated that there is back pressure in the flowline. By looking at the pressure gradient, it is expected to determine where the back pressure problem is in the flowline and become a reference in overcoming the problem. Based on the results of the analysis using pipesim software in this study, namely in scenario 1, it was found that there was no change in the pressure gradient graph. From the results of the scenario 1 analysis, it is obtained that the decrease in pressure gradient that occurs cannot overcome back pressure on the flowline. From the results of the scenario 2 analysis, it is obtained that even a small decrease in the pressure gradient has a big impact on wellhead pressure and can also overcome back pressure. From the results of the analysis of scenarios 3 and 4 obtained with a decrease in the pressure gradient, it has an impact on wellhead pressure and flowrate received at the Gathering station. From the results of scenario determination and analysis using pipesim software so that back pressure is resolved, scenario 2 is to replace the flowline with a new size from field X to the Gathering station.
