Abstract

The Coronavirus Disease, more commonly known as Covid-19, is a new type of virus that has raised global awareness regarding public health and safety. It all began when the WHO received a report on December 31, 2019, about an Unknown Etiology Pneumonia Virus, which was first identified in Wuhan, China. On March 2, 2020, Covid-19 was first detected in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to find out what the role of the government in Duri City is in efforts to prevent and control Corona virus Disease. So far, many people still do not follow health protocols. In the city of Duri, there are still residents found not wearing masks, engaging in activities that create crowds, and businesses that violate the health protocols. The City of Duri's Satpol PP (Public Order Police) has a duty related to this, which is to enforce regulations and maintain public order during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. At every level of government, both central and local authorities have worked hard to accelerate efforts to control the Covid-19 outbreak. The performance of the Satpol PP in controlling Covid-19 is being tested, as they must ensure the public follows protocols by maintaining distance, whether walking, driving, or engaging in outdoor activities, avoiding gatherings, and always wearing masks. The Bengkalis Regent Regulation Number 39 of 2020 on the Implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions in Handling the Coronavirus Disease 2019 is one of the legal frameworks supporting this effort. In Duri, the Satpol PP has taken active steps in handling the prevention of Covid-19, such as conducting day and night patrols aimed at encouraging and enforcing order during gatherings, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and educating the public on health protocols. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with community leaders, such as the health center, village authorities, and religious figures in the city of Duri.
