Abstract

The rise of illegal film screenings carried out by the public, especially on Tiktok social media, still needs special attention, and the public does not feel deterred by the applicable legal rules even though it is a copyright infringement of a film. Problem Formulation From this study How is the legal regulation of copyright infringement in the form of illegal film broadcasting on the Tiktok social media application reviewed from Law Nomor 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright? How is the protection of copyright law against the illegal display of films on the Tiktok social media application reviewed from Law Nomor 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright? The research method used in this study is normative juridical law research, because it wants to find legal rules, legal principles, and legal doctrines to answer the legal issues faced. The result of the discussion from this study is that the legal regulation of copyright infringement in the form of illegal film viewing on the Tiktok social media application has been regulated in such a way as in Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and Joint Decree (SKB) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and Communication and Informatics Number 14 and Number 26 of 2015 concerning the Implementation of Content Closure and/or User Access Rights Violation of Rights Copyright and/or Related Rights in Electronic Systems and with clear rules and strict sanctions should be able to make the perpetrators of violations get a deterrent effect and minimize the occurrence of further violations, and this must be accompanied by public awareness and understanding of the law and respect for other people's copyrighted works. And the protection of copyright law against the illegal display of films on the Tiktok social media application is very inadequate because in this case if there is a copyright infringement uploaded by one of the accounts is not immediately acted upon quickly and acted upon if someone reports the content, so as long as no one reports it, the infringing content can still be enjoyed and the account owner also continues to get money illegally.
