Abstract

Muhammad Sani Regional General Hospital is a hospital in Tanjung Balai Karimun with class C which will be upgraded to class B and because of the increase in type, the number of beds which is now 156 beds will become 200 beds according to the minimum number of beds in a class B hospital, this condition certainly increases the discharge of wastewater produced. The purpose of this study was to analyze the capacity of the IPAL when it was a type C hospital and when it became a type B hospital, and to analyze the effectiveness of the IPAL system. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with data collection techniques, namely literature studies and field research which aims to design solutions to problems and issues that occur in the field. The data collected is primary data in the form of dimensions and how the wastewater treatment unit works. And secondary data in the form of data on the number of hospital patients and employees and monthly IPAL report data for 2024. The results of the study from the analysis of the dimensions of the IPAL at this time are still sufficient to accommodate liquid waste for type C hospitals and for increasing the type of hospital to B which is accompanied by the addition of at least 200 beds with the consequence that the additional wastewater production can still be accommodated by the existing IPAL. The analysis of the effectiveness of the IPAL shows that the effectiveness of waste processing at the Muhammad Sani Hospital is functioning well because there is a decrease in the levels of waste parameters every time waste processing is carried out, but for the TSS, Ammonia and Total Caliform parameters, they have not met the quality standards of Permen LHK No. 68 of 2016.
