Abstract

In reporting news, the media has the ability to construct and frame a reality. In this study, the news that the researchers will raise is the Kanjuruhan stadium tragedy which caused many fatalities on October 1, 2022 in Malang, East Java. This study aims to analyze how news framing is related to the Kanjuruhan 2022 stadium tragedy on CNNIndonesia.com media in the period 02-08 October 2022. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method using the Robert N. Entman model of framing analysis with a qualitative approach through four functions that have: define problem, diagnose cause, make moral judgment and treatment recommendation. CNNIndonesia.com's research results have their own point of view in raising an issue. CNNIndonesia.com was able to show a good image of the police in thoroughly investigating the Kanjuruhan tragedy. Various pro and con issues from all parties that are indicated to be the cause of the incident of the deadly tragedy can be solved, with a structured description of the problem findings in a short period of time after the tragedy. CNNIndonesia.com is able to reconstruct the news into a message that the public can accept without having to put one side on the other.
