Abstract

This study intends to find out the role of Public Relations of the Pekanbaru Election Supervisory Body as a supervisory body for the 2024 election and how public relations builds an image among the people of Pekanbaru City. Where there is a negative image or the community was not familiar with the name Bawaslu and its duties and functions in elections. This research focuses on public relations of Bawaslu city of Pekanbaru by looking at the role of public relations of Bawaslu. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach. Subjects in the study took the chairman of Bawaslu, public relations and public relations staff 5 informants and 3 informants from the people of Pekanbaru city. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation, interviews and observation. Techniques to check the validity of the data using the participation of researchers and triangulation of sources. This study uses the role of public relations as four categories, namely expert advisors, communication facilitators, problem solving process facilitators, and communication technicians. The results of this study are the role of Public Relations of the Pekanbaru City Election Supervisory Body in building the image of having carried out 4 of these roles, namely Expert Advisor (Expert Prescriber), Communication Facilitator (Communication Facilitator), Problem Solving Process Facilitator (Problem Solving Process Facilitator), and Communication Technician (Communication Techinician). The role of public relations in building an image as a supervisory body for the 2024 elections both in carrying out the duties and functions of the public relations itself. In this case it is very clear that Bawaslu has an important role in the election and is supported by several opinions from the people of Pekanbaru City.
