Abstract
The film "Yuni" is a work of audiovisual art that presents various issues of women's struggles in the context of culture and society. In this analysis, we will apply the semiotic approach developed by John Fiske to discuss how issues of women's struggles are presented and communicated in this film. This semiotic approach allows us to understand how the signs, symbols, and narratives in films can contain meaning and how those meanings can be interpreted by the audience. In the film "Yuni", the issue of women's struggles may include themes of gender equality, gender stereotypes, the role of women in society, and self-adventure from social or cultural limitations. Through Fiske's semiotic analysis, we will cover the visual signs, language, and symbols used in films to describe female characters, their relationships with male characters, and the way they interact in various situations. The results of this analysis will help us understand how the film "Yuni" responds to issues of women's struggles in certain contexts and whether these messages aim to change the views or actions of the audience regarding these issues. By applying John Fiske's semiotic approach, we can reveal the hidden meaning in this film and reveal it in our understanding of women's struggles in modern society.
