Abstract
At this time the Facebook application is an online media that is in great demand by the public, especially among mothers. In this application, everyone can compete to show their new character on social media, whose image wants to display a positive character in them. Currently, there are many people who play this application with the aim of being a place to get entertainment. This study aims to find out what motives are used by housewives as a means of self-disclosure in Harapan Jaya hamlet. This study applies a qualitative descriptive method and connects the problem with the opinion of experts. Data collection is done by interviews and documentation. Informants in this study used Alfred Schutz's theory to explain that there were motives found in perpetrators of self-disclosure of housewives. The results of this study show (1) the motives of housewives for self-disclosure in expressing themselves on social media Facebook are divided into motives, namely gathering events, online business, sharing information, making new friends. While the motives for the purpose are entertainment, photo albums, and self-expression. (2) self-meaning, the informant's assessment before self-disclosure felt inferior, sad, insecure, unable to control emotions, often cried. After doing self-disclosure, you feel calmer, happier, more confident, think positively.
