Abstract
Instagram is a popular social media and is able to reach a wide range of groups, including teenagers. However, the use of Instagram can also have negative impacts, one of which is the negative impact of using Instagram, namely insecurity. This study aims to determine the use of Instagram to overcome insecurity in adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru. This research focuses on insecure body image which is explored through 4 stages of intrapersonal communication namely sensation, perception, memory, and thinking. This research method uses a descriptive research method. Data collection techniques used in this study are interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis in this study used an interactive analysis model which consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The subjects in this study consisted of five adolescents who were determined using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the study show that the use of Instagram can be used to overcome insecure body image in adolescents in the city of Pekanbaru. Informants' activities on Instagram that can generate a sense of security are viewing favorite content related to hobbies, watching motivational content, and exposing themselves through uploading feeds and instastories. This activity gave encouragement to the informants to give them a sense of confidence and enthusiasm in carrying out their daily routines with a positive attitude.
