Abstract

Composite is a material formed from two or more separate materials to produce different mechanical properties and characteristics from the forming materials. In this research, hemp fiber (Boehmeria Nivea) and resin were mixed as reinforcement. This study aims to obtain the structure of ramie fiber (Boehmeria Nivea) as a reinforcement using a random method on bio-composites, to obtain the effect of variations on hemp fibers (Boehmeria Nivea) as reinforcement using a random method on bio-composites with bending and impact testing and to obtain bending strength values. and impact of hemp fiber based composite resin. The composition of fiber and resin in this study varied with 20% hemp fiber + 80% resin, 30% hemp fiber + 70% resin and 40% hemp fiber + 60% resin. The results of the impact test showed that the variation had the highest strength, namely 20% flax fiber and 80% resin with a yield of 26.821 J/m2. While the lowest strength is found in variations of 30% ramie fiber and 70% resin, which has a strength value of 19.039 J/m2. The test results can be seen that the strongest bending strength is possessed by a variation of 40% ramie fiber and 60% resin, with a bending value of 1.39 MPa. While the lowest bending strength is produced from a composition of 20% hemp fiber and 80% resin with a bending value of 1.33 MPa. Bending strength comparison is not very significant. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the more hemp fiber is used, the stronger the bending strength will be.that the more hemp fiber is used, the stronger the bending strength will be.
