Abstract
Current technological developments have encouraged many parties to have internet facilities and make it a part of their daily lives. This allows anyone connected to a network to participate in creating vulnerabilities to the network's security system. One way to improve network security is to use intrusion detection systems such as Snort and Suricata. Therefore, the community and village government offices of Indragiri Hulu Regency need protection to increase network security which can cover the shortcomings of the firewall. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) or intrusion detection system can be a solution to existing deficiencies in firewalls, because IDS can filter data packets along with the contents of the packets in them. The IDS that are most widely used today are snort and suricata.
