Abstract
The decrease in production in an oil field occurs due to a reduction in natural thrust to remove fluid from the reservoir. In several oil and gas fields that have small porosity and permeability, it is a challenge for companies to increase oil and gas production. Nanotechnology in the form of Graphene Oxide Nanosheet is a new innovation that has recently been widely researched by several scientists. This research was conducted to analyze the physical properties of artificial cores and the viscosity of Graphene Oxide Nanosheets (GONs) and to analyze the effect of using Graphene Oxide Nanosheets with concentrations of 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 600 ppm, 800 ppm on the recovery factor using the sponteneous imbibition test method. The salinity of the brine used is 20,000 ppm, 40,000 ppm and 60,000 ppm. The results of the physical properties of the artificial core showed a porosity value of 10-15% which was in the medium category and the permeability value obtained was in the good category. The viscosity results of GONs + brine increased with increasing concentration and salinity. The highest viscosity was obtained at a brine salinity of 60,000 with a concentration of 800 ppm, namely 1,986 cP. The GONs concentration shows that as the GONs concentration increases at constant salinity, the recovery factor increases, and also with each increase in brine salinity, the recovery factor also increases. Comparing the results of the spontaneous imbibition test without GONs and brine added with GONs, the recovery factor value obtained for a brine salinity of 60,000 ppm was 1.3048%. Meanwhile, for a brine salinity of 60,000 ppm added with 800 ppm GONs, the recovery factor was found to be 5.544%. Increasing the concentration of GONs reduces the surface tension between oil/water, the lowest surface tension value occurs at a concentration of 800 ppm, namely 62.66 dyne/cm.
