Abstract
Technology is a tool that can make human work easier, with the aim of making it easier for people to increase the production capacity of cassava cutting which is used by many people who still use traditional methods in developing this design, a tool is designed that is able to increase production capacity. The research entitled design and implementation of an electric motor-based cassava cutting tool was made based on the results of a survey on a cassava chip business for cutting ± 36.44 kg of cassava/hour requiring 1 hour using a 0.25 hp 1400 rpm electric motor. This of course is a problem, namely that it takes a very long time so a tool was designed to develop which aims to make the process of cutting cassava easier. The innovation designed is a cassava cutting tool made with an Alternating Current (AC) electric motor system. After making the machine, the next step is to test the production process that can be produced by the cassava cutting machine. The design results produce specifications for length 560 mm, width 400 mm and height 600 mm. The production capacity of this cassava cutting machine is 90 kg/hour. The engine's driving source is an electric motor with ¼ HP power and 2800 rpm rotation. The transmission system uses a V-belt type A-43 with a 16 mm diameter shaft and 17 mm bearing type UC204-12.
