Abstract

The cooling system is a system that functions to cool the engine temperature so that it remains optimal at a temperature of 80? to 90?, so a coolant containing ethylene glycol is needed which functions to raise the boiling point of water and lower the freezing point of water, so that it is effectively used in radiators. This research was carried out using an experimental method which aims to determine the effect of the percentage of ethylene glycol and radiator fluid speed on the effectiveness of the radiator with variations in crank rotation of 1200, 1800 and 2400 rpm as well as the overall displacement coefficient of the radiator fluid, with an ethylene glycol percentage of 0%, 30%, and 50% with a constant time of 15 minutes. The results show that the best effectiveness value occurs at 2400 rpm with a radiator fluid speed of 0.784 m/s. In 0% ethylene glycol it is 0.1754, 30% ethylene glycol is 0.2965 and 50% ethylene glycol is 0.3565 and the overall heat transfer coefficient value in 0% ethylene glycol is 4274.391 W/m2.?, in ethylene glycol 30% is 7893.297 W/m2.?, and 50% ethylene glycol is 9795,199 W/m2.?.
