Abstract

Biogas is energy that can be used as alternative energy to replace fossil energy, such as gas, oil and others. biogas can be made by utilizing livestock and agricultural waste. one of the waste materials that can be used as a substrate for making biogas is banana peel waste and goat manure. To accelerate the decomposition of banana peel waste requires a long time, so in this study Effective Microorganism 4 (EM4) is used so that banana peel waste is decomposed faster. this research was conducted with a quantitative descriptive experimental method which aims to obtain the resistance time of the resistance (fermentation) of the mixture of raw materials, measure and calculate the ratio of pressure and volume of gas produced during the fermentation process with the addition of Effective Microorganism 4 (EM4). To analyze the comparison of flame time on the stove with the addition of Effective Microorganism 4 (EM4). This study conducted three tests, using raw materials of banana peel waste, water, goat manure and EM4 with a ratio of water to raw materials of 1: 1 at a digester capacity of 0.122 m3. Data collection was carried out for 26 days. This study resulted in a total gas volume in each test of 1.2632105 m3 in the first test, 1.2631783 m3 in the second test, and 1.2144337 m3 in the third test, resulting in a flame time in each test on the biogas stove of 21 minutes 32 seconds in the first test, 21 minutes 15 seconds in the second test, and 20 minutes 21 seconds in the third test with flame color characteristics in each test producing a blue flame with a slight redness.
