Abstract

Based on the report of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2007, tooth loss was found in the age group 45-54 years by 1.8%, 55-64 years by 5.9%, and in the age group 65 years and over, tooth loss reached 17.6 %. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the mechanical properties of the replacement material for dentures from bovine bone and acrylic resin based on powder size. The results showed that the impact and hardness values of 50% bovine bone powder: 30% acrylic resin, 60% bovine bone powder: 40% acrylic resin and 70% bovine bone powder: 30% acrylic resin produced an impact value of 0.338 joules/mm², 0.363 joules/ mm² and 0.363 joules/mm² while the hardness values get 11.32 kg/mm², 13.33 kg/mm², 13.80 kg/mm². The difference in composition affected the mechanical properties, the best was found in a composition of 70% beef bone powder and 30% acrylic resin.
